Evidence Base for South Warwickshire Local Plan

In collaboration with Bioregional and Currie & Brown, we developed a robust Net Zero evidence base to inform the South Warwickshire Local Plan and support the delivery of net zero carbon development across the district.

Through detailed energy and cost modelling of residential and non-residential archetypes, we tested performance standards beyond current and anticipated Building Regulations. Two recommended policy options,  Net Zero (Low Energy) and Net Zero (Ultra Low Energy), were shown to be technically feasible and deliver significant operational energy reductions with proportionate cost uplifts. An alternative “zero bills” option was also assessed.

The study provides a clear, locally specific foundation for ambitious yet deliverable net zero planning policies, supporting South Warwickshire’s climate objectives and helping to future-proof new development against rising energy costs.
