Fairhazel – Low carbon retrofit plan
We collaborated with RAFT and Joel Gustafsson Consulting to develop a low carbon retrofit plan for the Fairhazel Co-op in the South Hampstead Conservation Area in Camden. The plan details clear retrofit measures that the Co-op could implement across most of their buildings whilst being sympathetic to their heritage.
Through site visits, resident engagement and detailed energy modelling the team developed a series of fabric measures that worked with the building’s conservation status and would be a practical and sensitive route through planning. The reduction in space heating load would allow for low carbon heat to be delivered through heat pumps, which were specified for each building. All the proposals were tested for their impact on costs, demonstrating that retrofit would both be beneficial for resident bills and substantially improve the comfort of their homes.
