Houlton School, Rugby

Houlton School is a new six form entry secondary school on the site of the iconic former Rugby Radio station. The design includes three new buildings and incorporates two original Grade II listed early 20th century radio station buildings with a complete refurbishment.

Etude provided environmental design consultancy for all buildings, from concept through to completion. Covering energy, carbon, climate-based daylight modelling, overheating risk, and construction moisture risk (WUFI calculations) to achieve planning, compliance with the Education Skills and Funding Agency output specification, and a full construction design. We used specialist analysis (PHPP and CIBSE TM54) to predict the in-use energy consumption, and to help ensure that the building performs as predicted. We provided energy performance construction quality site visits on behalf of the client through to completion.
