North End Shipyard visitor centre

We were appointed as Passivhaus certifiers for the new visitor centre at North End Shipyard, part of the wider Hull Maritime project contributing to cultural regeneration in the city. Our role was to support the design team in achieving Passivhaus certification while delivering a high-quality cultural building to house the historic Arctic Corsair.

From RIBA Stage 3 to completion, we worked closely with the architects and consultants to test key architectural and servicing decisions against energy and comfort targets. By providing clear performance feedback and practical construction guidance, we helped the team refine the building fabric, glazing specification and MVHR strategy to achieve certification. The result is a robust, low-energy visitor centre that combines heritage conservation with exemplary environmental performance.
