Westminster Abbey New Sacristy

Westminster Abbey are providing a new secure visitor entrance and ticketing facility to improve the visitor experience. Etude were appointed to review the sustainability aspirations of the project and carry out whole life carbon assessment from RIBA Stage 4, with view to achieving the new Net Zero Carbon Building Standard. This included predicted operational energy calculations and upfront carbon calculations.

The unique and very special nature of the building and context mean a very bespoke assessment was carried out, reflecting the craftsmanship and local material choice from smaller suppliers. The building is currently under construction and Etude are assisting the design team, Abbey and contractor to achieve the best sustainability possible.
